Until then, published information on benthic invertebrate in Coal Creek and surrounding areas follows. Sampling site number 19 is on Coal Creek at Lake City. This data is from the late 1970s and was developed by the USGS as baseline data as part of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977. How does recent data compare with this baseline data? I sure hope it is better now that it was in the late 1970s. Our trout are going to need something to eat.
