CELEBRATING OUR 21st YEAR!!
During the past week, the following tasks were
completed by CCCSI volunteers:
|
Met with Mr. L. C. Madron (Lake City
Elementary School Principal) and Ms. Jan Moore (Lake City Middle School
Principal) regarding CCCSI, Coal Creek Watershed Day, and the
"Adopt-A-Watershed" program. Mr. Madron requested assistance in
training his teachers to use the INTERNET. We have asked the UT Student
Chapter of ASCE for volunteers to conduct teacher INTERNET training at Lake
City Elementary School.
| Met with Ruth Anne Hanahan and Tim
Gangaware with the UT Water Resources Research Center regarding participation
in Watershed Day and coordination of the "Adopt-A-Watershed"
program. | |
| Met with Mayor Tim Sharp/Community
Center Director Terry Houck (Lake City) and Principal Tom Braden (Briceville
Elementary School) to finalize arrangements for exhibits at Watershed Day.
| Made a presentation to the Clinch River
Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Got 9 volunteers to assist with fishing and fly
casting/fly tying instruction during Watershed Day and/or other CCCSI work
(i.e. Steve Brown, Dale Bostic, Tom Mason, Buzz Buffington, Bob and Mary Jo
Jenkins, Dave Mahlik, Sam Hobnett, and Terry Chilcoat).
| Attended TVA workshop on "Fund
Raising and Grant Application Writing". Met Debie Heck (TVA
Resource Stewardship) and others working on other watershed restoration
projects in Tennessee.
| Arranged to meet with Mr. Roger Foster
of Coal Creek Mining and Manufacturing, a major landowner in the watershed,
next Wednesday to discuss CCCSI and Watershed Day.
| Took Dale Bostic (Trout Unlimited board
member) and Lynn Bostic on a tour of Coal Creek. The Tennessee Council
of TU has a board meeting scheduled for April 29 in Norris. Dale will
invite the board members from across the state to participate in Coal Creek
Watershed Day if time permits.
| Jack Tuberville and Debbie Hubbs toured
Coal Creek and have committed to participate in Watershed Day activities.
| Tom Braden (Briceville Elementary
School Principal) arranged a meeting for next Wednesday with CCCSI and
Covenant Health Care Services to explore mutual interests in the Coal Creek
watershed. |
