CELEBRATING OUR 21st YEAR!!


 

During the past week, the following tasks were completed by CCCSI volunteers:  

bullet Met with Mr. L. C. Madron (Lake City Elementary School Principal) and Ms. Jan Moore (Lake City Middle School Principal) regarding CCCSI, Coal Creek Watershed Day, and the "Adopt-A-Watershed" program. Mr. Madron requested assistance in training his teachers to use the INTERNET.  We have asked the UT Student Chapter of ASCE for volunteers to conduct teacher INTERNET training at Lake City Elementary School.
bulletMet with Ruth Anne Hanahan and Tim Gangaware with the UT Water Resources Research Center regarding participation in Watershed Day and coordination of the "Adopt-A-Watershed" program.
bulletMet with Mayor Tim Sharp/Community Center Director Terry Houck (Lake City) and Principal Tom Braden (Briceville Elementary School) to finalize arrangements for exhibits at Watershed Day.
bulletMade a presentation to the Clinch River Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Got 9 volunteers to assist with fishing and fly casting/fly tying instruction during Watershed Day and/or other CCCSI work (i.e. Steve Brown, Dale Bostic, Tom Mason, Buzz Buffington, Bob and Mary Jo Jenkins, Dave Mahlik, Sam Hobnett, and Terry Chilcoat).
bulletAttended TVA workshop on "Fund Raising and Grant Application Writing".  Met Debie Heck (TVA Resource Stewardship) and others working on other watershed restoration projects in Tennessee.
bulletArranged to meet with Mr. Roger Foster of Coal Creek Mining and Manufacturing, a major landowner in the watershed, next Wednesday to discuss CCCSI and Watershed Day.
bulletTook Dale Bostic (Trout Unlimited board member) and Lynn Bostic on a tour of Coal Creek.  The Tennessee Council of TU has a board meeting scheduled for April 29 in Norris.  Dale will invite the board members from across the state to participate in Coal Creek Watershed Day if time permits.
bulletJack Tuberville and Debbie Hubbs toured Coal Creek and have committed to participate in Watershed Day activities.
bulletTom Braden (Briceville Elementary School Principal) arranged a meeting for next Wednesday with CCCSI and Covenant Health Care Services to explore mutual interests in the Coal Creek watershed.
